The objections period for the proposed reduction to the marketing component of the mushroom levy has opened following the Australian Mushroom Growers’ Association’s (AMGA) submission to the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources on 22 August 2017. The objection period will run from 9am AEST on Monday 25 September to 5pm AEST on Monday 6 November 2017.
AMGA has lodged its proposal to recommend a reduction to the Marketing & Promotion component of the Agaricus Mushroom Levy as part of its ongoing commitment to serve the interests of the mushroom industry. Feedback from the large majority of growers suggests that a levy reduction would address the long-time industry goal of industry unification.
Objections to the AMGA proposal should clearly outline which aspect of the levy proposal is objected to and reasons for the objection should be listed. Objections should also provide suitable supporting arguments and evidence, together with contact details.
